A remarkable evening with a remarkable community

Join the movement to pass 3A and 3B for A+ Schools! What a remarkable evening. The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education just voted to place a $9.9 million mill levy override and an $80 million bond on this November's ballot. Now the excitement and work really begins! My name is Debbie Capra, and I serve as the campaign chair of Citizens for Adams 12 Schools, a group of residents of the Five Star District who support A+ Schools for our neighborhoods.

As a long-time resident of Adams 12 Five Star Schools and a former teacher, principal and district administrator, I was truly amazed at the show of support for our schools at this evening's board meeting. Our community understands strong schools build strong communities and strong communities support strong schools. Nearly 400 people filled the board room this evening in support of 3A and 3B. They represented business, parents, grandparents and students, but most importantly, concerned citizens who know a great school system means great neighborhoods and a great quality of life.

Supporters of 3A and 3B know if the ballot questions don't pass, there's a serious and real threat to our great school system. Class sizes will rise, more than 165 jobs will be cut and schools will be forced to continue to teach students in aging, portable trailer classrooms because of overcrowding. They know that for 93 cents a week on every $100,000 home value, they will preserve an $8 million benefit to the local economy and infuse $80 million into the economy through capital construction projects with no increase in the tax rate.

I encourage you to learn more about the value of 3A and 3B to you and your neighborhood. Browse this Web site and sign up for regular updates through our electronic newsletter. Additionally, we're always looking for volunteers.

Remember: Vote Yes! 3A + 3B = A+ Schools!
